How to troubleshoot the error 0X85010014 with ActiveSync & OMA?

Submitted by MessagingTalk on Tue, 2006-08-01 15:30

Scenario:
OMA/activesync users get the error 0X85010014 while doing the ActiveSync with their Exchange Servers.

Problem:

ActiveSync will not work when the /Exchange virtual directory on the Exchange back-end servers is configured to require SSL.

Solution:
Remove the port 443 from the default web properties in IIS Manager snap in.

KB Reference:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817379/

“The Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync and Outlook Mobile Access virtual directories cannot access the contents of the user's mailbox if the Exchange virtual directory is configured to require SSL. The Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync and Outlook Mobile Access virtual directories only try to connect with the Exchange virtual directory over TCP port 80 (HTTP), not over TCP Port 443 (HTTPS).”
