Video: How to Reset the Default Virtual Directories - Exchange 2003
Introduction
There are cases when you need to reset the default virtual directories that are required to provide Outlook Web Access, Exchange ActiveSync,and Outlook Mobile Access services in Exchange Server 2003 Whether you have messed up some of the virtual directories or OWA is hanging (working sporadically), resetting the directories the way it is demonstrated in the following video tutorial could resolve your problem
Step1
Here we create a backup of the default web site settings. It contains the virtual directories and we should have a good backup of its settings before we proceed.

Step2
Next we will delete ther six virtual directories.

Step3
We have to delete the DS2MB key in the Metabase in order to force recreating the directories.Metabase explorer is availale in IIS 6 resource kit. You can get just the metabase explorer from here

Step4
Last we will restart MS Exchange system attendant service and test OWA functionality.
