How to create Storage Group in Exchange 2007?

This short tutorial explains how to use the Exchange Management Console or the Exchange Management Shell to create a new storage group. To perform this procedure, the account you use must be delegated the following:

Exchange Server Administrator role and local Administrators group for the target server Procedure

To use the Exchange Management Console to create a new storage group

1.    In the console tree, expand Server Configuration, and then click Mailbox.



2.    In the result pane, select the server on which you want to create a new storage group.



3.    In the action pane, click New storage group. The New Storage Group Wizard appears.



4.    Enter the required information in the wizard, and then click New. The Completion page appears.




5.    Click Finish.




To use the Exchange Management Shell to create a storage group


•    Run the following command:

New-StorageGroup <StorageGroup Name> -Server <YourExchangeServerName>


Where <StorageGroup name> is the name of the storage group you want to create, and <YourExchangeServer> is the name of the server on which you want to create the storage group.





Finally, you can verify the new Storage Group creation from the Exchange Management console.
