Portal provides users a place where they can visit and get the right information they are looking for from a single place, the main idea is that they don't have to go to other places or shuffle across to find the key information. Moreover portals should provide users ability to personalize the site both in terms of content and its presentation. Most of us interact with portals on daily basis, in fact if you simply browse to msn.com or my.yahoo.com you will get an idea what we are talking about (see figure 2.3.1 & 2.3.2)
